The hostel was built in 1976, in the memory of Smt. Rani Meyyammai, wife of Philanthropist Padma Bhushan Dr.Rajah Sir M. A Muthiah Chettiar.
Smt. Sigapi Ramasamy, fondly addressed as Achi by everyone, played a key role in the development of the hostel right from the days of laying the foundation stone.
Foundation stone in campus:
“Rani Meyyammai Hostel foundation laid by Thirumathi Indira Gandhi (Former) Prime Minister of India. In the immediate presence Thiru K. K. Shah (Former) Governor of Tamil Nadu and President of Tamil Nadu Educational Trust. Dr.M. Karunanidhi (Former) Chief Minister Tamil Nadu presided. Thursday the 20th September 1973”.
Inauguration Key stone in campus:
“Rani Meyyammai Hostel opened by His Excellency Shri Shankar Dikshit (Former) Governor of Karnataka. His Excellency Shri K. K. Shah (Former) Governor of Tamil Nadu presided. 2-2-1976”.
At the request of Mrs. Madhuben Shah, W/o. Shri K. K Shah, former Governor of Tamil Nadu, Philanthropist Padma Bhushan Dr. Rajah Sir M. A Muthiah Chettiar donated the corpus to build the hostel.

The team – wardens / security / chefs have rich experience in their respective fields and are committed to providing a safe, comfortable home like environment to the students. Many of the team members have been with Rani Meyyammai Hostel for over 20 years. The team members are approachable and caring. Taking care of the safety and comfort of the students is their priority.

Mr. Narasimhan comes with more than 11 years experience in Hospitality industry – in spearheading multi-dimensional assignments; provided visionary, ethical & enabling leadership in managing cross-functional roles encompassing Security, Administration, Accounts, Wardens, Housekeeping and Kitchen staff.
Ms. Devi, has been with Rani Meyyammai Hostel for 22 years and is experienced in Finance and Accounts.
Ms. Sankari has a Bachelors in Commerce and has three years experience as a warden.
Ms. AL.Deivanai has a degree in Bachelor of Commerce with 14 yrs of experience
as warden.
Ms. S.Chitrakala has a degree in Bachelor of Science with 12 yrs of experience as warden.
